ive got a question that you guys might be able to help me with
i have owned several uk turbo 2000s and i love them but am now lookin at buying an import..... a 1995MY wrx ra to be exact and my only real concern is fuel!

some say you cant use uk fuel some say you can, do i need a remap or will it work strait out the pump. ive searched the furums and done abit of reaearch on the net but my head is spinning can anyone shed any light on the subject

AFAIK the fuel in japan in the early 90's was not the 100 RON thats avaiable out there now. I'm not sure what the octane rating was, but it certainly was not any more than our super is now. I had a 1993WRX that I ran for 1 year on standard unleaded with no ill efffects. On an early WRX I think regular unleaded will be fine IMHO but if its later than 1995 or a sti then you'd be wise to use super and think about a remap.

A 'problem' with RAs is the gearing (more for accleration then top speed) so travelling on the motorway the car does have to rev quite highly.

A specific website for them as well Type-RA.co.uk - Home of the Subaru Impreza WRX Type RA, Impreza WRX STi Type RA, Impreza Type RA V Limited, Scooby V. Ltd, visit the WRX forum & Subaru forum
