Default Remap - How do you tell?????

Ok, this will probably get me dumbest post of the year award but is there any way of telling if the car you have bought has been re-mapped without taking it to get dyno'd?
Its my first Scooby so I dont know what "feels" different, just wondered if there was a way of telling or any tell tale signs to look out for.
I know the car has an OE "Sport backbox" and because its from a dealer I dont know what else may have been done to it, I never met the previous owner.

no way to be 100% sure without letting someone plug a laptop in and see.. although then it is also possible that the mods have been removed, if you are that unsure it might be worth getting it checked etc..

Other option is to contact previous owner of course

as JGM said, no way to tell bar plug in a laptop for a look.

unless your very very luck and you ask the mapper who mapped it and he remembers the specific car

If you have access to a boost guage, try that. Standard boost is 0.8bar.
If its been remapped, boost will be higher

You have to have it tested properly to be certain about any of it. Weston Super Mare? come on down, we're a leisurely drive away. £60 plus vat for dyno session and road test.

0.8bar is a bit low IMHO.

My 05 wrx completely standard used to peak @ 1.1bar..!

IIRC 1bar +/- 0.1bar is about right for bog standard WRX..

TBH if I was uncertain of a car, for the £60 AJ has quoted and being quite local, I'd be worth getting it checked over. Peace of mind if nothing else..

As Simon says it is misleading to say what the car is spiking to, the maps need to be pulled down from the ECU to see what it is targeting as things like exhaust, filters, weather conditions can play around with the actual figures.

It wouldnt take 10 minutes for an experienced mapper to establish whether it has been mapped before IMO

You would be able to tell if it is a locked ecuteked ECU very quickly, but they might have OS tuned it in which case you would need to download the rom and analyse it.

So, if there is no way of easily telling, could I go and get it remapped by one of the specialists and then still take it to Subaru for the servicing? Would they be able to tell?

I dont want my free servicing and warranty to be jeopardised. It states in the terms that any work must be done by Subaru, which means buy the PPP.
As I have a new Sport backbox already I just wanted to get a remap.

OK, last question on this thread; who holds the Ecutek license?
Is it an electronically registered thing that would be registered with Ecutek when first done or is it just a slip of paper you get to keep?
Every mapper quotes for the licence then reduced rates for subsequent remapps so how do they know who hoilds a license? This would surely be a way of knowing if the car had previously been tuned?
