Default Whats my next step to get check engine light off?

I have recently had this problem with the check engine light constantly on..

https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...res-fault.html

i had codes 22 and 23 so i have changed both sensors (maff and knock). The maff sensor has now gone off but i still have the code 22 so i changed it again and still no joy, the connector looked a bit dodgy so i have fixed that too just to make sure, every time i reset the ecu the code 22 just comes back up.

Does this mean there is a fault in the circuit? how can i check it?

Thanks james

Hi, it's possible your sensors fine, and your getting a high knock reading,as this will give you code 23 also.Best get it checked before it gets expensive!

Could be historic codes from an unplugged maf sensor and knock

ecu reset should remove historic codes

reading the op post he has reset the ecu more than once.

I imagine the sensor works on different voltages etc so probably a matter of reading the voltages at various stage (at sensor and ecu)

Suppose it could also be an earthing issue as apparently scoobs do suffer from bad earths although I didnt ever experience that

thanks for the replies, i have checked the earths and they seem ok.
I have had a look at the wiring diagram and it shows just one wire from the knock sensor to the ecu, so is it the voltages i need to check? what tool do i need to test it? i have never really done the testing side of things before.

thanks

The post by ScottT tells you what the resistance should be. It appears the sensor is grounded when it is connected so maybe an idea to remove it again, give the mating surfaces a clean and then put it back

Thanks mate, in that post Scott T mensions fitting a 540k resister to the knock link connector to see if the light goes off, this sounds like a good idea, where could i get one from?

The knock sensor is bolted to the block underneath where the intercooler would usualy be, it has a white conector.

Bit of an update, i have got hold of a 540k resister and connected the one side to the conector that connects to the knock sensr and the other end to earth, is this correct? if so it did not make a difference, also i have tested the voltages going to the sensor and it went 0.1 0.2 0.0 0.1 0.2 and kept doing the same round and round. is this correct?
