Default 2.1 engine build, which turbo??

I have done numerous searches....
I am currently building a 2litre cdb with a 2.5 crank, forged pistons, rods etc, uprated oil pump etc..
Without going into to much detail about the car, it will be a weekend car for fun, not really track but a little 1/4 mile stuff.
I am having trouble in choosing the best turbo for this use and this size engine, looking at 18g and 20g at the moment, what do you lot think? High 300's power wise would be good, but more to the point just want a nice usable car, that is reasonably quick for this power, and not to have to buy a 6spd/ppg gearbox, if this one gives up i have a spare. It will be using a fmic and large injector's 600's plus,
thanks

only thing is it would kill the gearbox and the spare one very quickly.a well set up vf35 would'nt be too over the top and you might get a while out of the gearboxes as well

A well mapped 18g would be ok to use on a oe good condition gearbox surely? Not in all cases though i assume? I know that the general threshold for a standard classic wrx gearbox is before 330 torques.

My friend has a vf35 set up well, it is nice but a little underpowered to put on a nice 2.1 build.

its hard to know,im thinking of doing something similar with my ra"forged rebuild wise" and have been chatting to a few tuners.most will tell you your going to need to uprate the gear box if not at engine rebuild time but soon after when it's broken.thats if you planing to get the best from your build.

I run a gt30 on my 2.1. Does tend to destroy standard gearboxes though!

Forget the gearbox! You don't want to build and spend a lot on a grand engine and thne not daring to use it due to the 'box.
Especially if you're going to 1/4 mile it!!!
People trash boxes even with Td04s.

Agree box must be considered here if you going to the lengths of stroking the 2lt it would be a shame not to use its full potential.

But what is the point of making a Stroked forged engine if you only want to run a VF35 turbo ??? A standard engine will be ujp to that task !

it'll be very very close to the limit so if you push it, or slightly misstime a gearchange its goona go bang, as in the gearbox
