Default How to join Samco inlet pipe at MAF end?

Just need someone to remind me what size the inlet pipe is at the MAF pipe end...?

When I replace my OE inlet pipe with a Samco I'm puzzling over how it's going to fit up - AFAIK the Samco has no metal reinforcing ring in its end like the OE pipe so what are you supposed to clamp onto? Or do you need to get a metal joiner, and if so what OD? 75mm? 80mm same as my MAF?

The stupid thing is I already worked this all out once, when I had an Autobahn pipe on there. On a side issue, is it reasonable to expect that a Samco pipe that costs 4 times as much as an Autobahn88 one, should have a reinforcing ring at its MAF end?

Cheers!

Nice one Wayne - you're too good to me! I'm just in final negotiations to get hold of this pipe and I'll check whether it has the ring in it or not. There's no pictures that I can find of the Samco that shows the MAF end. If I do need it though, I'll Paypal you some lolly, it's only fair.

It's weird how all the stuff I never need again, I always keep 'just in case', yet the only stuff I ever need is the stuff I got rid of.

No worries, just let me know if and when. Also what length you want. I think mine is 2"

So you could just hose clip the factor black pipe over the top of it?

I have the stainless pipe and I have just found the alloy insert from the Autobahn hose that I did not use. Its there if you need it.

The offer is very much appreciated! But my hose just arrived today and it DOES have a metal insert, so it looks like it should be OK. Now just got the fun of pulling my inlet manifold off...for the third time in the last year. I'll probably do some breather and fuel pipe tidying up while I'm under there.
