Default Has anyone used CDB 2.5L from Pennine Subaru

Hi there

Due to unforseen circumstance i need a strong 2.5block as i have recently knackered my EJ257 block.

So i was looking for any feedback from Pennine please.

I know of 3 2.5CDB I relatively recently mapped.. one was deffo from Pennine and was superb.. although only on a td05 16g at the moment.. so not exactly pushed! but no problems since etc...

of course I just remembered another that lasted 150miles of run in before a liner slipped.. but fault put down to workmanship of the block..

well 2.5 is superb, great spool, great torque etc..

just getting a block to stay together at over 500 is the problem.. as being discussed on the thread on 22b really.

Yes looking forward to Banny's etc..

Is it worth a try as i want to re-use the guts from my bulit EJ257 as showed on 22b?

Or do i cut my losses and do the 2.35 route for my newage.
I've got a Lateral GT3040 and supporting mods to bolt to it.

You can PM me if you prefer Simon.

Steve Beattie is running one at the moment.

You only have to meet Chy Wright once to know he is so fastidious about his engine builds.

Fine, Steve bought the engine second hand, and its been rock solid as far as i am aware. It's running a Lateral Gt30r. He will be changing the rods soon, so the boost can get upped to 2bar and 600 will be the target.

He built and mapped my mates STI engine a few weeks ago - very good service and a nice guy. I had a chat with him about all things engineeing not just Subaru's, I came away very impressed. Anyone who plays with jet engines in there spare time has got to be pretty clued up.

So all in all he is good then.

I'm going to be strapping on a GT3040 and running over 2bar.

What symptoms Would a slipped liner cause?

My brother has some problems since his rebuild and impatiently waiting for the diagnosis.

I will probably be heading down the gt35/42 route later this year but for now the gt30r does Its rated by mark for 550bhp so its still good, but I'm only running 480bhp at the moment due to a couple of none engine related problems
