Gearbox oil change
Hya,
Just a quick question I want to change my gearbox oil, is it just acase of unscrewing a bung and draining it, and then where do you fill it up?
Which oil is the best I have a 1994 wrx.
Thanks Mark

Well after my last gearbox rebuild I used Millers 75w90, but the 5th gear synchro got noisy and I found it quite notchy. Changed to Redline Heavyweight Shockproof and the difference is like night and day. Much nicer through the gears and solved the synchro crunch straight away.

Engine gear and diff oil change
Did my engine, gearbox and diff oil last Wednesday night.
Bit easier if you have a pit or 4 post lifter as you might have to put a bit of pressure on the 1/2" extention bar needed to open the 2 bungs on the diff.
The diff uses just over a litre but when you take the 2 bungs out, clean the rubber block on the bottom one, secure it back in and fill through the top hole with a plunger pump untill you start to see it flow back out.
There is a magnet atached to the bung on the gearbox. Have a good look at it went you take it out.
(I got a shock )
Once all the oil is out, run your finger up inside and feel for any other debris. Clean the magnet, screw back in an put a bit of rubber hose over the dip stick sleeve and use to fill. This will keep the turbo from getting soaked in gear oil that will sink for the first good run.
Engine 4.5 litres
Gearbox 4.2 litres
Diff - just over a litre.
Got my Motul oil from Opie Oils, great guys
Hope this helps mate!!
PS dont forget to 3/4 fill the engine oil filter before screwing back on
