When you fit a front mount to a scooby the pipe coming from the cooler to the inlet manifold and the turbo are very long and bendy causing lots of lag. If you reduce the piping then you reduce the lag which will increase the spool up of your turbo

Spool and lag are totally different things. Spool is unaffected, its the lag that is less.

the main reason's the reversed inlet manifold is used are :

1. when you fit a rotated turbo set up.. there is no room for the i/c pipework
2. when the above fitted you need a reversed inlet manifold to accomodate the pipework for fmic
3. all this being fitted does make the 'overall' length of pipework shorter (helps loose a tad of lag)

Made my own. What year yours is will decide how difficult it is or isn't.

Mine was a 1999 UK model and essentially all I have done is spun it around and had a wedge shaped sandwich plate welded on. Here's a couple of pics of mine.
