Default Prodrive boost hose?????

I've recently been offered a prodrive ECU upgrade for my 2001 bug eye at the right price, but remembered that as part of their package a boost hose is also included, is this essential?

I've also heared about a restrictor that may be required to prevent overboost, any ideas????

My car has a fully decatted exhaust and Blitz powersonic filter as the only mods.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated!!!!

The hose is changed to handle the increased boost pressure, you can source your own pipe of course (SFS, Samco etc).

There is a restrictor in the metal pipe off the turbo to the wastegate solenoid valve but I am pretty sure thats not anything to do with Prodrive.

Cheers mate.
Wheres the best place to go looking for this hose then?
The chap said something about a restrictor to be fitted in the exhaust to prevent overboost, god knows lol!!!
Is that the only other thing I'll need to sort to run this chip or is anything needed?

Fella, just get it remapped. The prodrive Map/ECU is no better equipped to runs those mods than the map thats on your current ECU. I think you mean the blue intercooler hose (Y pipe) and yes this makes a difference, although a performance essential rather than a mechanical one.

Reading your other posts, I think you need to really think about a reamp.

As said already a remap would suit better than a PPP ecu, especially given you have the above. The ecu would not be best suited at all to a decat exhaus and induction kit!

That is the route I've been considering but this prodrive chip has come along at a price that I cant afford to ingore, especially considering the fact a remap would be in the region of 600 - 700 quid.

I was under the impression that the prodrive chip dialled in a bit more boost/fuelling etc or am I wrong?

Not quite that simple unfortunatley. Remaps are available for as little as £450 from the likes of Mocom Racing.

Sounds a bit more promising.
So the general consensus is to not bother with the prodrive chip, even if it is only £100?!!

With your mods, no i wouldn't bother. A remap would give far better results.

Waste of £100 TBH, unless you put the Original Catted DP on and replicate the PPP parts. You might also create new problems not to mention practical issues like recoding the keys to the new ECU as done in the PPP install.
