Default diagnostic connection

I can't find my diagnostic connecters under the steering colum. I've got a 96 uk turbo. does mine have this facility? all the posts i've looked just say under the steering colum

They may be taped up if they have never been used before.

read the fault codes ok. found a pipe had come of valve. put the pipe back on. connected the green connectors together and the black. when trough the procedure to clear the fault codes. i've tried this twice and it comes up with a new code. code 43 accelerator pedal switch. anyone else had this problem.
surely it's something to do with hold the peddle down and at half throttle during the clearing process?

Simon has hit the nail on the head, you are running a jap base map on a UK car, the code is a red herring and nothing to worry about.
