Doh.. Snapped it
Ok so I was trying to remove my recirc dump valve and couldn't see how to easily remove the pipes.. I took off all the clips and still no joy, so i started trying to remove the TMIC.
Undid everything and it seemed to come freebut was sticking on the turbo housing so started twisting this way then that and there was a horrible cracking noise
Anyhow what had snapped was the plastic pipe that the recirc valve connects to from the IC.
It didn't seem to be one piece but plastic welded on in some form (looked factory though). I stuck it back with apoxy resin and am leaving it overnight to go off..
How much pressure is pushed through this pipe? I Imagine a lot now that i have removed the Recirc valve..
Will it hold?

not sure how the setup is on the slanty type intercooler with the recirc, resin is pretty strong but can be brittle. not sure how long it will last, pressure going thru is what ever your turbo is pushing. i have a 98 intercooler if you want it, with Y pipe to fit turbo, DV connection is metal on this one. would be a tidy little upgrade from the slanty, just need a matching under tray.

Interesting.. so whats the difference between a 98 and slanty? Bigger surface area? Fairly straight forward swap?
Yeah im interested especially as it has a metal DV connection, How much you want for it?
Cheers,
James

the 98 intercooler is just as good as the sti v4 intercooler, just a different colour, what makes the difference is the y piece between the 98 standard and the sti. you can have it for free m8, should be a simple swap. i have to remove the plastic Y piece from mine yet as the sti pipe arrived this morning.
