i have read on here other people have got this aswell and it is apparently quite normal, just the water passing through the heater matrix.

not just me then..

ive recently drained the coolant and refilled, i thought maybe an airlock? and i sometimes get steam coming thru the o/s vent. theres no leaks and its not overheating (on the gauge anyway)

oh and its a 99 v-reg uk turbo

thanks for the quick response

it dose sound like air lock to me. on my last cars there has been a bleed screw but aint on these so just have to fill with water from scratch very slowly or i personaly i would COLD start it with rad cap off and slightey rev it to clear it so air can circulate and escape but thats only what id do!!. read on hear they are a bit of a pain to fill being a flat engine

You have air in the heater demister circuit, if you have a mate with a steep driveway park facing up hill start the car with the rad cap off the header tank and let it run for about 5 mins, when you see the level drop top up.....cured. Make sure it's a bloody steep one too.
