HKS Induction Kit question?
Hi all,
I don't mean to sound dumb, but you can just bolt a filter on right? I bought an HKS induction kit and just fitted it. I took the car for a quick drive and it sounds really great, but my car was hesitating a bit at low revs. I checked all pipes and they're all tight... Not sure what to do next.
I'm taking the car to work tomorrow (about 40km's each way) so I'll see how it goes. I have my standard filter in the back just in case...
Any advice would be appreciated. The filer is for a Subaru and just bolted straight onto the MAF sensor. I have a 96 Version 3 STI Type RA (if that's of any relevance). My car's completely stock (exhaust and all).
Thanks!

Check here on how to test for error codes JollyGreenMonster.co.uk.
Try reseting the ecu as i did this when i fitted my IK.

Thanks for the replies, appreciate it. I hope its nothing serious... I was pretty careful with the MAF sensor as I had to replace one on my last WRX and know they're a bit fragile.
Can I not just reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery for 10 mins? And would doing this affect anything else?

But if you mean anything else on the car, no ,it shouldn't do.
I leave the battery disconnected for more then 10 mins or use the method on the link i posted.

Still no luck after the ECU reset, the car is definatly running rough. I went past three garages after work and two of them said take it off as GC8's don't like induction kits. The third said they could modify the MAF so it could handle the filter but they can only do it next week so I just re-fitted the standard box. I don't want to have to keep a spare MAF under my seat...
It's not like power gains are huge, so I think I'll just sell the filter (as much as I like it
). I'm getting a 3" HKS exhaust system early next week, so that will be my first mod
.
Thanks again for the responses.
