Default '94 classic boost trouble

Hi folks i have a funny problem on my wrx, one min i'm boosting ok (0.8bar) next it's in limp mode (0.4bar), a rac mate said it's my boost solanoid and gave me a manual boost controller for under the bonnet,

after fitting and adjusting i just can't get the car to accelorate smoothly, my boost gauge runs upto 0.8 but the car feels under powered and missing that strong pull, it maybe the boost controler ha gave me, any help much needed as i need the car to get our disabled son around.

You can clean the boost solenoid out (do a quick search on here).

No restrictor will cause problems i think you can buy them from a Subaru dealer but i'm not sure.

Well you can run it with the manual boost controller or get a replacement restrictor.
