Default Up Pipe

Is it worth getting a new up pipe for my 94 wrx. I've recently got a decat downpipe and straight through exhaust.

Will the up pipe give me more power? and will it increase noise levels?

Would this be a good one to buy:-

Find 93-05 Subaru Impreza STI Turbo Up pipe Stainless WRX on eBay within Exhaust Components, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 11-Nov-07 16:31:04 GMT)

Also I will need to get it fitted, roughly how long does it take to change.

Thanks

if the up pipe is too big you will loose velocity within the exhaust sytem, thus reducing spool up time for your turbo!
Speak to Harvey Smith about one of his up pipes, they are proven to work very well, i know it worked well on mine.

I would look at headers first, ported or stainless.

Save your money, its only worth doing if replacing a catted uppipe that was introduced on the newage cars.

Your uppipe will benefit from some porting but its not a restriction at your current level of tune.

Is this a good idea to get? and what sort of labour time would it be to fit? I'm assuming if I get this, I should get the up pipe as well?

I replaced my up-pipe last week on MY94 WRX as it was blowing like a trumpet and opted for the Hayward & Scott slip jointed stainless steel replacement. My own opinion is that when the OEM up-pipe was working fine and since fitting the H&S I have noticed a slight improvement on throttle response and the exhaust being noiser at mid range when cruising.

Time wise it took 3 hours

You seem determined to spend money.
Fitting a 2" up-pipe on your car would be a good way to reduce performance.
At your level of tune there will be no discernable benefit from replacing the O/E up-pipe, on its own, unless it is leaking.
Fitting tubular headers would not be a good option either.
What would benefit your car would be a set of properly ported headers and matched up-pie which would improve spool and response with good torque gains.

Fitting an up-pipe can take upwards of 2 hrs depending on the problems encountered with seized nuts/studs. Typically 2.5-3 hrs but I know of several instances when 5hrs or more have been charged. Get a fixed price before the job is done.
