i have just fitted a full turbo back de-cat apart from up-pipe. also i have a greens panel filter

i called scooby clinic and told them what mods i had but they said that i should fit a K&N CAIK. but from the posts on scoobynet most of the people have got performance panel filters..

what do you guys think?

green cotton or k&n panel filter in original box works very well.

Standard one will save you even more. It does a much better job than the aftermarket ones which filter badly and make no difference to power. do a search, there is lots on it.

Ive had my 93 wrx for 18months now and on day one I fitted a K+N panel filter and had no probs.

Yesterday I fitted a K+N induction kit and even though the car now hits fuel cut its quicker, I don't mean it sounds quicker it IS quicker.

The scoob is my eighth turbo'd car and ive had all sorts of panel filters and Induction kits over the years and after fitting the I/K to the scoob its made an improvement.

Swings and roundabouts I suppose...

it's quicker for two main reasons.. the load the ecu sees will be lower but the boost increased (hence hitting fuel cut) so it will be running more ignition and less fuel due to the ecu not seeing the true load as it is expecting the air to be sucked through the standard airbox etc.. so yes it is quicker but is it safe and not running too much ignition or lean? it maybe perfectly fine.. it might not.
Also the airbox on the 93 is much more restrictive than the newage car in question here.
