Default im new and need some help with my car

Hello all,

i have just a brought a wrx sti type r 1997 r reg, it is a fresh import. I am being told by lots of people i need to buy a new ecu for it to run on our petrol.
Is this ture I have also put some pics on hope you like, i live in essex so if any body knows of a good tuner/garriage in the essex area.

I dont know alot about these cars as i have always had ford rs's in the past but i just cant wait to pick her up, sooooo much better

You don't need a new ecu just run it on V power(+octane booster if you're worried).
the ecu in your car cannot be remapped or flashed as far as i know so if you want to tune it then you'll have to replace the whole ecu.

very nice car but take it easy till you get used to the typeR "quirks",they can be very tail happy when your not expecting it ,dont know how many folk i know have bought one and filled their pants the first time it kicks on them (me included)

As said above the car will be fine on the existing ecu as long as you run v power or a higher octane fuel, but this would be my recommendation regardless Jap or UK spec.

The car looks a very good example, Enjoy.
