check the sensor voltage under "sw/sensor check" in ETC.. I expect the voltage is too high or too low when off the throttle.. MY99?
iirc it should be around 0.3v.. but you might need to play to get the light off..

ahhh, should have thought of that...what with there being slots and not holes in the sensors fixing
thanks Simon, will have a play this evening and let you know how I get on
btw, what sort of issues could this cause?

yeah the throttle voltage is too low.. 0.05v... adjust to 0.35v I cannot recall the range but 0.35v should work as a starting point,, this is assuming when you use the throttle the voltage changes.. if not check it is plugged in

the voltage does change when i open the throttle but when i try and adjust the sensor i only get a change of .01v and that's using the full range of sensor adjustment...I've also tried using the throttle cable adjustment at that also makes very little difference.
bloody car.

the only visible difference is the new TB has gold throttle cable guides and springs and the old one was black. Same part numbers though.

When you fitted the TPS did you make sure the pin on the end of the throttle spindle located onto the correct side of the "tag" on the TPS? It's difficult to explain but hopefully if you take it off and have a look at how everything moves you see what i mean.
When you've got the TPS off try moving the little metal tag and see if the reading on the commander changes, if so the above is the most likely cause.

Thanks Kenny and James you were both right; I hadn't located the internal pin with the throttle spindle
the Commander is showing .36v now and the throttle pick up is behaving as I'd expect it too.
Thanks again for the help
