Angry changed TB...getting a CEL?

as above...could this be anything to do with the throttle position sensor?

I'm running an Apexi ECU.

check the sensor voltage under "sw/sensor check" in ETC.. I expect the voltage is too high or too low when off the throttle.. MY99?

iirc it should be around 0.3v.. but you might need to play to get the light off..

loosen the screws on the tps and rotate the sensor..

ahhh, should have thought of that...what with there being slots and not holes in the sensors fixing

thanks Simon, will have a play this evening and let you know how I get on

btw, what sort of issues could this cause?

not going into idle mode.. throttle openning fuelling not enough etc

ahh, so that would create a delay between giving a right foot full and anything happening that explains why it was so difficult to get out of my garage last night

lol, I'd never do something as silly as that...that would be like connecting your crank case breather to the oil feed from the turbo

does the commander highlight the sensor thats playing up...mine looks like it has?

yeah the throttle voltage is too low.. 0.05v... adjust to 0.35v I cannot recall the range but 0.35v should work as a starting point,, this is assuming when you use the throttle the voltage changes.. if not check it is plugged in

the voltage does change when i open the throttle but when i try and adjust the sensor i only get a change of .01v and that's using the full range of sensor adjustment...I've also tried using the throttle cable adjustment at that also makes very little difference.

why did you change the TB and will the sensor off the old one swap?

I had my TB ported and polished, but unfortunately part of the port\polish seemed to be cutting the lip off the TB which led to the ic hose blowing off on high boost. The guy who ported the TB has sent me another TB without the lip cut off but without any sensors, I refitted my sensors and here I am.

the only visible difference is the new TB has gold throttle cable guides and springs and the old one was black. Same part numbers though.

When you fitted the TPS did you make sure the pin on the end of the throttle spindle located onto the correct side of the "tag" on the TPS? It's difficult to explain but hopefully if you take it off and have a look at how everything moves you see what i mean.
When you've got the TPS off try moving the little metal tag and see if the reading on the commander changes, if so the above is the most likely cause.

Thanks Kenny and James you were both right; I hadn't located the internal pin with the throttle spindle

the Commander is showing .36v now and the throttle pick up is behaving as I'd expect it too.
