Default How to reduce noise on track?

Help!!

I have a little bit of a noise issue, in that I am off to bedford soon with its crazy low db limit of 86dbs. I recently tested the car myself and it is in the high 90's, both static and driveby.

The car is a 1993 type RA with a 3inch straight through exhaust with H&S downpipe and no cat and a Tanabe back box. The exhuast is i believe 3inch and is pretty straight from front to back.

I do have a bung for the backbox which reduces the 4inch tailpipe to 2inches but it has a definite affect on performance. Plus when measured, it was only reducing the noise level by around 3 db's.

What would you suggest to help reduce noise without affecting performance too much?

I really dont want to spend too much as I am trying to spend every penny on more track time.

It's either a different backbox or a more restrictive bung. The difference you noticed with the bung could more likely have been psychological than real. Try getting a bung with about a 1 inch outlet, I think that's about the size of the one that came with my Apexi N1 exhaust.
