Default Cam-belt change - new age

Time has come for a cam-belt change.

How easy a job is this to do on a new age (STI8 MY03) ?

Also, local Subaru dealer reckons I should replace the 'adjuster' as well as the belt.

What's he going on about ?

Is this necessary or just a ploy to relieve me of some cash ?

in my opinion a belt change on a subaru is piece of **** because everything is easy to get at.like i say just my opinion
i would change the tensioner and rollers while it is stripped just for peace of mind really.
have a look at the pictures on JollyGreenMonster.co.uk it will give you an idea of what is involved

It's not a ploy to to extract more money fron you, any decent garage will tell you the same. Just had mine done on bugeye wrx costing £225 at my independant subaru specialist.

no need to change the water pump.. unless excessive play in it..

if it is the second change ie. 90 odd k, I would do the crank seal too.
