Default Odd running problem

Hey there,

Basically i have a running problem on my legacy (same as early wrx pretty much). It kind of misfires on idle every now and then and is very jerky/missfirey on partial throttle but when my foot goes down it seems to want to go like normal. Some days it will have no power at all and some times it will run ok

i had the coils checked and they seemed ok, and i had new plugs fitted to no avail, i tried a friends MAF and it was awful until i revved it round the rev range then it seemed to cure it, but i'm not sure iuts that as the problem is intermittent.

Any help greatly appreciated peeps

the coils on this age car are often a problem but usually show up as an on boost misfire.. sometimes they look fine but are breaking down inside..

worth checking the compression.. and cambelt timing..

i was thinking cambelt timing, if the tensioner has failed it would slightly alter timing all the time wouldnt it? it could be something as simple as this i guess
