phase 1 engine has coil on plugs (coilpacks)
phase 1.5 engine has coilpack in the centre of the engine and ht leads
phase 2 engine has the coilpack off to the right slightly and ht leads.

uk 98 should be a phase 1.5 and have the coilpack in the middle.. the phase 1 and 1.5 fuel rails are different slightly but take the same injectors.. uk 98 will be as said 380cc phase 1/1.5 injectors and grey in colour.

If you are looking to upgrade to 550cc then you just need to go with a supplier that knows which and therefore gives you phase 2 550cc injectors with adaptors for the phase 1/1.5 fitment.

I have some Yellow Phase 2 440's and some spare phase 2 rails not sure if they are any use to you.

If not i'm sure Carl Davey makes some adaptors allowing fitment of phase 2 440's to phase 1.5.

Yes.. the td04 Hybrid is a nice unit.. it depends what you like and how you drive.. if you like early spool and just want a bit more power then the td04 hybrid is perfect.. if you don't mind slightly later spool and a big kick when the turbo comes in then go for vf35 or TD05 16g etc..
