Default handbrake warning light on when not applied

Car is a 92 classic, do the rear pads have a wear indicator on so when you get to a level the handbrake light comes on? I know my rear pads are getting low (not checked the actual level) and the handbrake has to be pulled all the way up to be effective, but past few days the handbrake warning light has been on even though it isnt applied.

So is it a low level warning or is it a dodgy switch?

Cheers

Also a fluid level warning, if the level is OK move the float in the resevoir, they sometimes stick.

No warning light for low pads, also handbrake is a drum brake inside the brake disc so is unrelated to the state of the pads. Some pads have a wear warning consisting of a metal clip that screeches on the disc when the pad is low.

Poss the handbrake switch itself is either stuck or the wire has been trapped and down to earth for the light to stay on.....

If my handbrake travel is quite high, then does it have shoes in the drum brake?

Believe its on the handbrake lever itself ,but not checked to be certain, most cars have it fitted like this so when the lever is pulled up,the switch is released and the light comes on..... worked ona few cars when the wire has turned and cot trapped in the tooth ratchet mechanism, got cut and brings the light on as its down to earth all the time, which is how the switch brings the light on.

cheers guys will check the above out later.

What about general handbrake adjustment. Is there parts to replace like shoes etc or is it just a matter of changing/adjusting a locknut on the handbrake cable (assuming it uses cable for the handbrake and not hydraulics)
