Question Fuel consumption....

Hi folks,

i have a 1999 RB5 with full blitz nur-spec and hayward and scott downpipe, induction kit, Fuel pressure regulator, walbro pump and g-reddy boost controller....now i know these cars are hard to fuel and i dont think mines has gotten any harder to run since all these bits have been fitted, but im just wondering what sort of milage uz guys get to a full tank (60 litres). I can clear a full tank of super unleaded in 140miles with a good bit of 'fun' driving and in and around the towns, but wot sort of miles should i be getting driving normal, 50-60mph with no boost etc?? Any comparisons on the same spec of car would be greatly appreciated

Ive managed 300 to a tank on my m99 uk turbo that was at a constant 4-4.2k revs.

I average around 240 to a tank which includes motorway and town driving.

Thats with 550 injectors,td05 16g, front mount, fse fpr blah blah

I get about 240-270 miles from about 50 litres, as that is when the warning light comes on, that is on a standard 2003 WRX, don't know if that is good or not as I have only had it a couple of months.

Yeah but ur car is a 1994 model and the earlier cars have a smaller tank!! The pre 97 cars have a 50litre tank, and the post 97 cars have a 60litre tank as far as i know....

LOL it would be a lot more straightforward if people could work out their own mpg between fill ups! Then tank size wouldn't make any difference would it. Mine will do 25mpg on a long run, 22 with a mix of commuting and caning it, below 20 on track. In other words, with a 60 litre tank, I'm happy if I get 300 miles out of it, it's tolerable if I get 250 miles. Any less than 250 and I'd be a bit upset, what with V-Power at 105p/litre or whatever it is at the moment.

Running a bugeye wagon with remap, decat centre, prodrive backbox, replacement filter.

On a full tank (driving it to virtually empty) I get around 340 to the tank. Probably around 270-280 miles before the fuel light goes on.

Same as you mate. Everyone loves coming on here after a question like yours to say that they can get 1000 miles per tank!!!

I never get any more than 200 miles per tank (early Classic). To get that I have to drive like Miss. Daisy..

I get about the same out of my P1 mate, but only because i have a heavy right foot! It all depends on how the engine is mapped, mapped for power or for economy(HA HA!!!)

the mapping can be both!
When cruising you're on a different part of the map compared to when you're on full power.
I use a lean mixture and high ignition timing when cruising, and rich mixture and low timing when on power.
I'm certain most maps use similar strategies. although not all mappers will take the time to really get the best out of the cruising conditions.
only when using performance parts like hot cams fuel consumption will suffer.
BTW I get 26 MPG on cruise and < 18mpg when flooring it
