tapping noise

Default tapping noise

got a tapping noise from the right hand head hoping it is just a badly set up shim any ideas

i had the same fault, turned out to be a loose spark plug, check them.

What year is the car? Pre 97 had hydraulic lifters and I think recently subaru returned to hydraulic lifters.

Is it a tick or a tap

any one know what the clearences should be just checked plugs and there tight

0.7 gap ,or atleast i hope so,just fitted spark plugs,f'in pain to do. asked on here for gap size got one reply saying 0.7,i've heard previously that some modded cars would be better with 0.6 though,

thing is gaz not talking plug gaps buddy talking lifter gaps but it's ok i sorted the problem and OH MY GOD WAS I LUCKY the right hand bank exhaust cam pulley had shaken loose how the beep it didn't come off killing my engine considering i drove it to dorset and back to surrey like it i don't know

christ you were lucky,maybe i should have a look at mine then as i know the top cam pulley was changed when the belt was done
