I've got the same car and replaced the leads with standard and Subaru are not particularly generous when it comes to the length of the leads. Could your lead to no.4 be slightly tight and heat/ vibration etc maybe causing it to pull off over time?

sounds like the problem.. if you look in the lead you can carefully squash it with pliers to make it a tighter fit.. Alternatively I think I have a set of secondhand my00 leads you could use one of the other leads from antoher cylinder that are longer?
father in-law had a mouse in his car.. it broke into a box of roses on the front seat and moved the whole lot to the boot.. father in-law saw this in the morning and then went out at lunchtime to clear up and they were gone.. stripped searched the car and they were behind the headlight!!!
the mouse chewed through lighting in the boot and a couple of other bits and put a mouse size hole in the rear seat.. he drove around with 3mouse traps in the car for a while..
