Argh.. Dont go there lol.

Currently in termoil on what to choose. Been told by a very reliable source to steer clear of JE and Wiseco (one and the sameish) as there have been problems in the states with the JE's.

I'd like to use Omega's but RCMS want to take my **** virginity over the price. So I'm either looking at Mahle or Wossners

Mahle are a make I've heard a lot about, they produced all of the pistons for the Vauxhall LET's (which are good for over 500bhp). The Wossners are german made and have tefflon skirts and one or two other bits and peices.

What are you thinking of using?

Problems in the states with them sticking in bores That problem may have been rectified. I've not heard of any problems over here though and there a lot of big power cars running them.

Where abouts in Cornwall are you from?

Absolutely nothing wrong with wiseco's I have them in mine 93mm 8.35:1 CR and have done circa 30,000 miles @ 400bhp without any problems whatsoever.

I did mention this was a problem with JE's in the states.. Wiseco are a derivative of JE, however it may have been a problem with tolerances on a batch.

If the Pistons are sticking in the Bores, that must be a problem with the Piston to Bore Clearance when the bores are given the final hone ??
Aftermarket Forged Pistons normally run approx 0.0025 - 0.0035" bore clearance which is enough to give a bit of slap from cold but the Forged pistons expand to the normal running clearance when up to temp.

JE and Wiseco are two totally seperate companies, they are not derivatives of each other.

Every bore needs to be correctly honed to size for each piston, so anyone that had trouble with a forged piston siezing, simply didn't hone the bore to a large enough clearance. Not the piston suppliers fault at all.

Both JE and Wiseco are excellent makes, very strong and light weight.
There are cases of the spring clips coming loose and scoring the bore, especially on JE's. However, some people don't know how to assembly them correctly, so could well be the engine builders fault.
