Default The advantages of tdi opposed to di

Hi all,im not up on diesel engines at all, what are the advantages of a tdi engine opposed to a di engine.
(TDI) BEING Turbo direct injection
(di) being only direct injection.

The (DI) OBVIOUSLY HAS NO TURBO but has 16v is this engine any slower than the (tdi) 20L any fuel issues to go with it .
thanks for your response,lee

I reckon you need to do google this, But modern DI enginge do have a turbo, It's the way the fuel is delivered thats different, Or I maybe being stupid!

Are you trying to compare vw against vauxhall here?
The vauxhall DI engine is a common rail unit (their first) which ran a light pressure turbo, now depending on the TDI its either not a common rail unit or it is (year etc).
Vauxhall did the DTi which was also their first attempt at common rail engines, these have since been replaced by the newer CDTi engines which are a little better

bought the astra 20L di 16v ,think it has a low compression turbo cause it aint much bigger than a large apple but the car is still nippy for a diesel.

the vauxhall 2.0 di is a standard diesel with low blow turbo and no intercooler
the 2.0dti is similar engine but has better turbo and an intercooler
if you want common rail in a vauxhall you need to go for the cdti option as opposed to di or dti
