anyone refurbed their classic sti intercooler?
what have you done / shotblast/ polish/ any photos!

the only thing you can do with them is a lick of paint and straighten out any bent fins with a tooth pick. shotblasting will kill it.

Mean,t mask off fin area and blast rest of housing! then polish or paint?

Straightening out the fins shouldn't be a problem for him as he has my old intercooler. To say that I was **** over bent fins is putting it mildly! .

Gary,

I did my STI8 IC using PJ1 coatings "Yamaha Engine Case" paint that I had left over from my R6 crash, lol.

Its a nice finish and resists the underbonnet temps/conditions quite well.

Gave the IC a 400grit flat and then masked the core before a one coat application.

M and P sell it if you need some.

Wayne.

PS I thought yours was clean enough!!!

wayne , that photo makes me sick!
even air con drier is spotless . saddo!


p.s fins on intercooler were spot on , hardly any to do!
much appreciated! maybe i am more ****
want every thing perfect

I have to admit that I was a little slack. I had only straightened/cut out dead fins on the top a month or 2 earlier so didn't redo them! .
