Does anyone know wether or not my (newage 2002 sti) hyperflow tmic, would fit my mates classic (1996 sti coupe)?

Yes it will fit with some modifications.

Use the search with "Sti8 intercooler on MY00"

 

It should fit however it will be different to the guide mentioned above as the 1996 Impreza uses a different inlet manifold to the 2000 Impreza.

IIRC the main difference between the Hyperflow TMIC and the WRX Intercooler is the depth, this could cause problems on a classic.
