Default MY97 Recirc Dumpvalve - Correct way round

I've just got a standard recirc dump valve to replace my chavvy one.. I've if you look at it with the vacume nipple at the top there is a boost/outlet pipe at the bottom and one on the side, At the moment I've got the side pipe connected to the intercooler (boost in) and the bottom pipe connect to the recirc pipe (boost out).. The car feels slower with the OEM valve so I'm wondering if I've got it round the wrong way and its opening up, or are they just not up to more than standard boost?

Cheers!

Doh, this is the way round I have got it; but its not boosting as high now.. I assume they are prone to opening under pressure? :|

The oem makes a 'hooting' noise when it's leaking....

the small return pipe on top faces the bottom, the pipe facing upwards goes onto intercooler, and the pipe on side of dump valve goes onto engine block, hope this helps.and the breather at bottom goes into inlet manifold!!

Not like this then.

As the piston seems to push up from the bottom I assumed that would be the logical way, i.e. the pressure from the IC doesnt push against it

once there is boost at the vac hose it will press against it with boost + spring pressure and keep it closed, let off, boost turns to boost at in, and vac at top opening the valve.
