Default MAF problem?

ive been though a few maf sensors in the past few months, this will be my fifth if it is the maf. all the other times its gone while hard accelerating etc but this time it was while coming off the accelerator, the dump valve made a high pitch dump (atmos) and the car stalled, i started up again while moving and found somewhere to pull over, its ideling all over the place and stalling now. it still drives but like a bag of **** and wont go into + boost. the car is showing no errors where as before ive always got the maf error up. can anyone confirm it is indeed the maf again?

thanks.

Sounds like a split hose on the intake somewhere, have you checked the whole run from MAF to throttle body?
