To put in a built 2.33 engine at 1k miles ? Should i stick to semi-synthetic for some time or should i go ahead and switch to fully synthetic ?

 

Semi synthetic for atleast 5k miles for the engine to bed in, then you can use fully synth

Although it makes not a jot of difference what origin the oil is (mineral, semi or full synth) but the friction modifiers that are in it as to how it effects running in. Don't use a 'long life' oil as they tend to have more friction modifier, but the semi/full synth argument is erroneous in its basis.
