sti v2ra vs v3 type r
which do you think would go better a sti ra v2 with jdm chip n headers map at 1.2 bar or a v3 type r with a fmt and pfc running at 1 bar. both had the same intake/exhaust/filter mod.

rolling road which one would come out first? v2 had a td05 turbine while the v3 uses the stock vf23. or would they come out the same? v2 n v3 running stock injectors

turbine 'spooling' refers to it coming on boost, the larger turbo will hold more boost (or same at better efficiency) at higher engine speeds.
As for which one is quicker, if one is well mapped and optimised and the other not, then the mapped one will be quicker, likewise one may be mapped to a very conservative boost, making it 'slower'. No one can asnwer your question until you know what question you want answered and tell us exactly!

However untouched and as built by Subaru, the RA would have the edge, and as your modded cars have it running more boost, thats unlikley to have changed!

i dont agree id put my standard typeR against any standard RA in a straight line, see my above post for details, although everyone claims the ra is the lightest and fastest ive seen many standard typeR's put out over 300 bhp when its alledged to be only 276 and its got 2 less doors.Best way is to put them side by side and then see.

STi RA's have always been better than STi type R's for the simple matter that they are race altered (engine oil cooler etc)
Performance wise, a newer v3 will be better than an older v2 (could be that 3 extra bhp between the engines ) but nothing really in it (except the gear ratio's on the RA will be closer than the R's and so reduce the top speed but give greater accelleration).
Swings n roundabouts

Im an ex TypeR owner - modified.
Year for year*, the R/RA drivetrain is the same in both cars. The only difference being weight, which I think is in the RA's favour ONLY if it did not have the optional electric windows, Aircon etc, that the R came with as standard.
* Type R's were only produced from 97 V3 onward, with the phase 1.5 engine and better intercooler/IHI roller bearing turbos.
RA's were available in V1/2 form as lightweight cars (without the electric and aircon), with a TD05 turbo capable of more power when tuned, BUT with a restricted slanty intercooler.
If both cars were standard V3/4 cars with identical 'optional extras' then I think that the TypeR may have been lighter/more power to weight.
