Default is it as simple?a bottom end rebuild

hi people,
my first ever rebuild
got a serious problem with me subaru impreza 1994 wrx sti,big end bearings are knackerd and possible connecting rod bearings too.ive got a full subaru engineers workshop manual with all the diagrams on the cylinder head and block, blown out and step by step guides on rebuilds.is a rebuild as easy as it looks on the diagrams?

at the moment ive stripped everything away from the engine ready for removal, which then again went from the manual and all parts i taken notes, pictures and then placed each item in a separate bag, wrote on what the location is.

am i really biting more than i can chew?tell me what u think.
cheers

Simon -
The build/reassembly is the easy part - the cleaning and prep.work will
take longer to do than the build IMHO.
The block halfs and cylinder head oil gallerys need to be 100% clean of all
oil/dirt/debris and old sealant - dont skimp on the cleaning and you will be ok.
There is plenty of build info about and if you are confident in doing it - do it.

All doable but alot of work. Good chance you will need another crank if the journals are scored, plus mains and big end bearings, plus gasket set. If you value your time it's better to let specialist at it.

As Merlin said, meticulous cleaning is essential. Add a parts washer to the list.
