Lightbulb MAF figure = BHP..?

Am I correct in thinking the amount of air measured by the MAF is directly linked to output of an engine..?

It's just according to EcuExporer the VF35 on my car is 'consuming..?' 261g/s of air, so can this be extrapolated into a bhp/ft-lb figure, or am I talking complete b@llocks..?

Not really.. the energy extracted from the burn relies also on amount of fuel, ignition time, charge temp, pressure and how the flamefront moves through the mixture.

There might be a couple of other things that I have missed
LOL

But there is surely a correlation between the amount of air a turbo or inlet system can supply and how much power an engine can make. Of course it will vary depending on application, but there must be a theoretical maximum with everything being optimal. In fact I KNOW there is, but what the exact numbers are...?

Assuming the tune is done well then the g/s is usually very close to wheel horsepower. The g/s figure however is only close to being accurate if you retain the std induction system. Cone filters and other forms of induction alter the airflow currents and hence the mass airflow figure becomes inaccurate.

If the car has been remapped then the airflow curves may have been re scaled, this will also affect the g/s to bhp correlation

I'm not sure about this one......... when you lift off the throttle air is still going past the MAF sensor but not much in the way of BHP going to the wheels LOL
