Its a normal car, they are not as fragile as every one likes to scare you into thinking. Just put in the same as the manual recommends. Fill just below the fill line and bobs your aunty
Dont let people on here scare you into thinking that these cars are any different to anything else.
Like any car as long as you follow the servicing it will be fine.

Its ok to top up, but use the same make oil as used at the service
always check on level surface, take the stick up and wait a couple of minutes before checking, oil tend to stick in the tube getting on to the stick giving false readings, oil should be between low and full when cold and at full when hot
hope it helps

It does say in the manual but ive not got one at hand, you should have 2 holes and a notch, the top mark is when the engine is hot, the next one down is when the engine is cold and the bottom one is the min mark for the oil (off the top of my head).

As above, I'd just add, don't overfill..!
Halfway between two holes when cold (ideally overnight cold) is about right IMHO. Unless your car uses a lot, but then you need to check it regularly anyhow..!
For an accurate reading (as they are difficult to get a clean reading) remove dipstick and wipe, return all but ~6" and leave for 10 mins or so before re-dipping..

The garage would (should) be using the same spec as stated in your manual so toping up with the exact same oil isn't necessary - just make sure you use the correct spec.
Also,as already mentioned ,let it stand overnight before checking, apparently the oil on the flat four takes a good few hours to settle back into the sump.

I second Jasonius on what he says. Leave the dipstick out as you get a 'proper' reading then. If you just keep dipping it seems to move all over the bloody stick and never gives a consistant reading.
This is the way i now do it and its better then my previous 10 dips method! LOL
