Default Exhuast Control Valve

My girlfriend is threatening to make me sell my WRX STI Version 2 (JDM) because it's too loud and boomy for her on long journeys. Has anyone got any experience of these:

http://www.apexperformance.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1001&PHPSESSID=2d8e41 ad5d57814

Will it:

a) Fit?
b) Help out significantly with in-cabin noise?

I'd prefer a fully automatic solution like the electronic version of the Apexi setup or the Fujitsubo system which will open the exhaust control value as revs / boost climb, but can't find anywhere that sells them.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

DECS ECV is no longer available, but the manual ECV is. I went for an Apexi active tail silencer which does help the noise, but it is still quieter on full throttle when it is supposed to be open, so I think it may still be a restriction.

Resonated centre sections help a bit, I ended up with three of them on my last Scooby exhaust plus the one in the back box. It was then just about bearable but quite a heavy system!

Will a bung for the tail pipe do the trick or is that only going to affect outside noise?

A new different back box would quieten it down. Failing that try a new girlfriend

It's not so much the outlet diameter, but the amount of silencing material and design inside the backbox.

I went from a backbox with a 5" outlet, which was actually quite quiet, to a 5zigen fireball, which has a 4" outlet, and can be heard 1 mile away on country roads
