could any one tell me what bhp is the Japanese 1998 2.0l wrx sti v4.

And also, im from ireland and the petrol is 95% octane. remapping the ecu is very expensive so is there another way or will the engine be ok on 95%?

95 + octane booster minimum imo.

i can get 98 octane at one place buts is very expensive but worth it?

You could weigh it up against the cost of the engine suffering detonation and having to rebuild the engine.

since you've said remapping in Ireland is expensive may be worth looking at comparative prices in the Uk and see if it's worth coming ove rhere

300ps (295bhp) on japanese fuel (100ron)

On normal fuel it should be 280ps (276bhp), as for mapping I'd get it done or make sure you use the correct amount of booster.
I ran mine for 2 1/2 years on optimax with booster, no problems, had it remapped for UK fuel (V-power), its better on economy now too
