Default Speedo reading

Is it normal for the speedo to be reading around 10% over the actual speed on an MY07 STi ?

Around 30 - 40 mph it reads around 4mph over and at 70 - 80 mph it's reading around 6mph over.

I know they tend to read a little high but never had it this bad on previous cars.

I'm comparing this to the readings i'm getting on my Road Angel btw.

Cheers

most cars will read up to 10% over the actual speed
my 04 wrx reads higher than the speed on my sat nav aswell.
look on the bright side less likely to get a speeding camera fine

i was once told that motor manufacturers have to have the speedo showing more, as some how or another they could be liable for people speeding by just a couple of miles an hour, how true this is i dont know.

yes it usually is about 10% however if it is the other way around that is an offense.

Cheers peeps.

I knew that they normally read over but not had it read quite so high before, sounds like a common thing with subaru's though.

Thanks again

i think it varies from car to car, ive got a MY98 uk turbo, @ 30mph on the speedo my road pilot says 28mph, but @ 160mph on the speedo road pilot says 152mph.
