Default kph to mph conversion.

Hi guys i have bought an import wrx with the 112mph restriction on it.
i know i need to buy a delimiter from ebay or elsewhere but my question is this.
If i fit the delimiter and the speedometer becomes mph then does this mean that the odometer will still continue to read in km?
if so is it better to leave it this way so that when i sell it i can tell them that the mileage is in km but the speedo is in mph?
or is there a convertor for the odometer as well?

If you put in a converter it will make the odometer count up in Miles from the date you put it in....

so... write down the mileage (KM) before you put it in, convert this into miles also. So say its 100,000KM, that would be (off the top of my head) around 62k miles

then when you want to know the mileage after a year or so, say you do 20K miles in a year, the clock will show 120,000miles, but you know that 100k of these 'miles' were 'KM', so really you know its 82K miles....

hope that made sense lol

yes it does thankyou.i have read other threads where people are saying that after doing the conversion their odometer still goes up in km not miles.so they do a measured distance of one mile but the odometer reads more than 1 mile.
so if i buy this eBay.co.uk: SUBARU IMPREZA MACHANICAL SPEEDO CONVERTER / DELIMITER (item 300119221569 end time 17-Jun-07 23:44:07 BST)
Then from the day i fit it the odometer will go up in miles AND the speedo will show miles as well?
and this will also remove the 112mph restrictor?

Yes, of course you'll need new clock faces that go to 180MPH for MOT purposes. Lockwood do good white dial sets. And yes it removes the 112mph limit, changes it to 180MPH limit

my current guages go up to 180.so if i fit the converter the current guages wont automatically switch (i.e) 100 kph will not become 100 mph?

yeh mate, on your dials when your doing 100 on your clocks your be doing 100mph after the chip is fitted.

some garages will also clock the car back and convert it to miles in stead of still clocking in kms,

They will, but in the bottom right of the gauge it will say "KPH", and AFAIK for MOT it needs to be MPH

i may well have missed something here but unless your current clocks display mph markings already you won't be able to tell exact speeds like 30/70mph etc once with the converter fitted. Could be potentially dangerous around speed cameras!

Nope, mine was fitted and clocked back by a garage and the first thing i did was hook up the sat nav to get the gps speed and it reads bang on all the way to 70, i haven't bothered testing it further

Yes. 180kph becomes 180mph, effectively.
Speedo doesn't need to say MPH for MOT. In fact the speedo isn't tested.
