Default TD04 for TD05 is a new ECU required

I have a 1995 Subaru Impreza SA Wagon (Auto box) I find the car very fast at low revs 2,500 to 4,000rpm but it runs out of power after 4k.
I have been told it is because of the TD04 & ECU map ??
If I replace the turbo for a TD05 will I need a new ECU ?
It has a V5 ECU fitted at standard with four plugs going in to it.
I notice on e-bay that there are many Z4 ECU’s for sale from 1995 vintage Impretza’s
Will one of these from a manual car fit a Auto ??
I had in the past a WRX 1995 manual 260hp and that were really good after 3,500rpm up to 6k (Much better that the SA where the power is low down then fades away!)
I wonder if anyone has made the mod before??

Yes, a new turbo will require a 'mapable ecu'. Apexi power fc fitted and mapped for around £850 would be my choice.

Not so keen on spending that kind of money just wanted to know if a Z4 ECU would fit a Auto.
I think the map is set to 260bhp with a TD05 ??

Also been told the V5 will auto detect and set for a TD05 ??

Z4 is mapped for the TD05 so i cannot see a problem (best check with a proper scooby specialist though).
If you do buy a z4 i wouldn't pay more then about £75 (i've seen people selling them for stupid amounts.
Or you could try a chip from PolarPerformance

Thanks for the info.
Any one know if the auto box is controled in any way by the ECU ??

Or is the ECU just controling the engine ??

Pretty sure the ecu only controls the engine.

Hi, will this mean I could fit the TD05 and Z4 and everthing would work fine ?
Will it change the output from 220bhp to 260bhp or do I need to change anything more ??
