wheezing noise after fitting fmic
Would have posted this earlier but been on hols for a few weeks, but fitted a fmic a few weeks back (monster hybrid) and fitted a turbosmart megasonic dump valve at the same time.
When the car is driven off boost it is fine no problems or strange noises at all, however as soon as boost builds up I get a high pitched wheezing type noise as though air is escaping somewhere. Checked and double checked the pipework and everything is firmly connected, nothing has come loose at all.
I will adjust the dump valve later so that it is stiffer to open to see if that helps (just incase its leaking pressure out) but I think it isnt that.
Also fuel economy has dropped to about 140miles to the tank (vacuum hose to the regulator is connected so its not that) thats running on less than 1 bar boost (adjusted boost levels on the avcr)
Is it possible that the silicone intercooler pipe hoses are expanding under pressure and letting air out or is this not likely?
Car is a MY92 with full decat, apexi power fc, avcr, induction kit

check the pipe connections are actually tight rather than the jubilee being fully done up.. as the jubilee sometimes fully tightens before clamping the pipe fully.. check the ones which won't blow off is loose and just leak like the turbo connection and the one under the air filter etc..
try is with no dump valve to confirm it is not the dumpvalve.

cheers Simon, jubilee's do look as though they are firmly gripping the hoses etc as they have made a slight indentation into the hose, what I am thinking though is where the pipework joins nr the inner wing (where the wing has been cut) the pipework sits tight against that as I wanted to keep the hole as small as possible. (I have some fuel hose cut down the centre around the hold so there is no rubbing) so wondering with slight engine movement and under boost conditions if that one is causing the issue. I had to get a different hose for the throttle body to intercooler pipe as the one supplied was the same diameter both ends so I got a samco reducer so I know its okay there. The only other hose is possibly the dump valve, I got a 110 degree bend cut down slightly on both ends as the take off on the pipework was facing down into the engine bay and with this I can have the dump valve pointing upwards. There arent any kinks in this though

Regarding high pitched noise, I can't think what else it could be other than boost leaking. If you're satified that the clamps are done up as tight as possible, maybe the clamp are too weak to cope and leak under pressure. Might be an idea to upgrade to some btter clamps, Clamps supplied with FMIC tend not to be that good any way.
As for the drop in fuel economy, have you had you car remapped since fitting the FMIC? If so the Apexi FC will need to be remapped to get the best out of it. My brother has the same set up as you on the same age and type of car and he is returning on average 200 210 mils per tank, so there certainly an issue there.
