just about to buy a de cat down pipe tommorrow.

i allready have a nur spec r and hks equal headers .

so the question is do i go for a 2.5" or 3" de-cat downpipe?

Three inch definitely. The more you can reduce back pressure the better. The bigger diameter will pay dividends especially with your future mods.

what does this sound like with the equal headers, do you still have the burble or what does it sound like? better power with them.

also i think the nur spec r goes down to the standard bore size where it joins the downpipe.

i have a 3" decat down pipe, and it fits my bur specr good.

Thought 3 inch was only worthwhile over 400 bhp ?

Or are we talking about Napoleon and Josephine here ??

The more you can reduce back pressure the better, infact if the turbo was dumping straight into the air without an exhaust that would be best. given Gatty's future plans he won't be too far from 400bhp, although I don't think there is a threshold figure when using a bigger diameter. TBH a lot of people are using three and a half inch diameter with power outputs of mid 300 bhp.

a 2.5 exhaust is said to give better off bost response a 3 inch exhaust will give better on boost and spool, to be honest i don't think you would notice to much bellow 400 bhp

your headers will give a little more lag but add more to the top end

the nur spec r has a 3inch connection to the downpipe iirc so I would be inclined to go with a 3inch open neck downpipe.

See you next week Gatty
