Default Rolling Road tips & Expectations

Rolling Road on Saturday at Surrey Rolling Road.

1st Time ever ever ever.

Taking my 94 WRX, waiting for the 'RUNNING TOO RICH' speech.
Though hopefully not too bad with just decat DP, Full system and Green panel filter, no remap though, would like to be above the standard 240!

Any tips and expectations? i.e, Full tank of petrol? (V-POWER as always!) worth adding an octane booster? Think my wheel balance is out - worth sorting before test?

Expectations - Are they gonna rev the **** at of it and cause damage or are they quite careful, would hate to leave with problems.

Just any advice would be appreciated for my first trip to the Rolling Road!

More likely to be running lean with a decat pipe on the car.
Don't put the octane booster in if they're mapping it unless you are always gonna run with octane booster in the car? Fine to put octane booster in if it's just a power run.
Yes they will run the car up to it's redline, probably several times!
I always service mine a week or so before it goes on the rollers, oil change, spark plugs, coolant etc and sometimes other things like clean the air filter or replace the fuel filter and check the tyre pressures as well. This also gives you a week or soto sort any little problems you come across before going on the rollers.

Rolling roads can be scary the first time you go (i know i was worried) but when i went they do a quick check of fluids (the cars' obviously ),then they did a pre test to make sure that they are happy with everything ,then when happy they rev the nuts off it (my local r/r do it twice) and then print out the graph and talk you through anything that may be a problem (if there is any).

Don't be too disappointed if you don't get what you want (the car is 13yo) but if unhappy then the people doing the r/r are there to help you.

It was serviced in January, is it worth getting it serviced now?
I really don't want problems to arise after them redlining it over and over again.

It's just a power run, so I may put an octane booster in.

If you put octane booster in, then it won't really be a true measurement of the cars "road" power. Unless you use it all the time. Plus, you'll have to use it in a couple of tanks before the ECU will adjust to it, wont you?

I had mine run 3 times in the last year and have had no problems (running no octane booster and on Tescos 99ron).
They don't hold it at redline for very long a few seconds at most.
If you do put in octane booster like joey said it won't be a true measurement and you' ll have to reset the ecu before you get it run.

No, it'll be fine.

When I ran my 94 on the rolling road I never bothered with anything more than a quick check by myself that the fluids, etc were all the way they should have been.

Also chucked my Leon TDi on the RR when it had only done a few thousand miles (still made 166bhp - supposed to be 150bhp and the torque was a lot healthier than it was meant to be as well despite being std).

Now that I have a new STi it's going on the RR up here *before* I do anything to it so I know what the mods have actually done to it, as the 94 got 289bhp or similar with the filter, full decat and raising the boost slightly (just below the fuel cut level) but I had no idea if that was 'cos it originally had a lot more than the 208 they claimed the UK cars had.

As I said further up in this tread, is it worth getting my wheel balancing done before the RR?

Don't think the wheels would be a problem but it is always worth having it checked.
