What are you using the pads for? I had Red EBC's fitted to a road going car and they were crap. I'm fairly sure that Red's are supposed to be for 'fast road' use (fast because they don't stop the car!) and Yellow's are a step on from that i.e track day use. I have however heard a lot of good things about Red Ceramic Pads, I have no experiance of these personally though. It may be that cus they are expensive people say they are the best. Depends where you intend to use the car as to what pads you get..

Don't waste your time with redstuff pads. Mine lasted only 6k.

Yellowstuff'R' compound however is very good. Essentially a track compound, but works well from cold on the road. Low dusting, long lasting (mine done 20k) and low disc wear.

Important to match the rears with the front.

Best places to buy them:

Mocom Racing - Performance car and trackday products
:: EBC Brakes Direct Limited ::

I hear the Ferrodo DS2500 pads are highly rated too - more so than the EBC counterparts.

Available from Camskill

ive got the redstuff ceramics on my setup (prodive 4pots and 330mm discs) I have no problems with them, work well from cold and dont seem to fade, however I cant compare them to other similar pads as I upgraded to these from the standar 2 pot setup so anything will be a big improvement.

Used to use the ebc greenstuff many years back on a sunny gtir and they were a massive improvement

Cheers for all the replies......

I have used RedStuff pads for about a year now - front and rear, changed over to them from the standard pad when I upgraded my front disks.

BOB'5, I agree with your wearing out quickly comment though, I did get slightly more than 6k though (roughly got 10k).

Going back to my original question though, I wondered because on the ScoobySport website (where I brought my pads), I noticed that under YellowStuff pads it quotes "perfect for the Impreza" and wondered why that was.

Has anyone else used both types, and if so how would you rate them?
