Default Advice on buying....

Hi people

Well its been nearly 2 years since i sold my beloved scoob & the time has come to get another, everytime i see another scoob go by a tear comes to my eye!!! sad i know i just miss my old one so much!

Anyhow, im after another imported wrx, however i am unable to remember if there are certain models which have better engines. i had a 93wrx & i spent over 10K in the 2.5yrs of owning on mods & a rebuild & numerous g/boxes.

As it is not going to be a daily driver, i would like to run a safe 300lb torque & similer bhp without the probs of main bearings & twisted gearboxes etc that i had with my previous 317bhp.

Do the 'red top' engines have better internals or do i just buy a 3k nakerd & go for a rebuild of forged pistons, new crank, new version g/box etc?

Just wanted to have a good base to start with, on a 94 to 97 plate version.

Thanks in advance, as im out of touch at the moment!!

cheers bighead

think the P1 & 22B might be out of reach on the cash flow there, STi seems reasonable prices!

its going to be bit of a project car for me & the mrs you see, just wary on the old wrx that it will go bang on me! dont mind if its been modded or just a fresh standard import, just a good price to buy then i can work on it at home as & when i get paid! lol!
