Default P1 or evo 6?

Hi all! it's time to buy another car, and am torn between a P1 and an evo 6. I was wondering what the better car is in terms of performance and future tuning. Not to bothered about running costs. I used to own a 2.5 converted impreza, so know them quite well( did the work myself) but havn't a qlue about evo 6's.
Thanks, and try to be unbiased!!

Tim

It would probably be cheaper to tune the Evo 6 unfortunately,

1.5 bar with a Ralliart ecu induction kit, exhaust and boost controler, take it to around 350 - 360 bhp.

There were plenty of guys running 500 bhp with very little problems when I switched to the dark side briefly.

Agree with Lee 100%, i had a tommi mak with Autronic/ anti lag all on standard internals, had it dyno`d @ 1.69 bar 369bhp/ 353 torque, they are very good cars, but i also think the P1/ a subaru has more character.

I'm a newbie to 4 wheel drive cars and have always loved Scoobys and i've finally purchased a 2002 UK WRX which i love driving at any opportunity especially on 'B' roads!!
BUT
I drove an Evo 6 Tommi mak edition last week and the way the car handled was awesome, much, much better than the Scooby IMHO, the Scooby is a much nicer place to live in than the Evo on a day to day basis but as a track car the Evo would be my choice.
Evo 8's seem more refined inside so my next motor in a couple of years WILL be the Evo 8 or 9.

ive had a number of both cars, and theres lots to be said about both, if your leaving it std, in my experience the scoop of poo sti's dont give any trouble unless doing do-nuts, once tricked up severly shortens there life span but as above are much more comfortable for day to day. evo expensive to run, diff oil every 4000 miles at 80 quid, parts for them are obseenly dear, and if you drive hard like i did, once i only did 70 miles on a full tank juice and driving nicely only got 160, and they wreck clutches. have had evos in my garage for clutch with only 2k on them but will take a tuning engine wise far better than sub. i prefer them to drive fast at 2 in the morning but prefer scoop to go on holiday in and as a family car. but even though the evo feels faster, when i had my last 6, i had a proper race with a friend of mine- him in type r 99 sti. this wasnt just a mile or so, this was 40mins of total punishment on the cars on the limit. he drove in front to begin and then me half way and i can honestly say there was nothing in it at all. ive told the story a number of times as i will die with a smile on my face thinking about it. i would say both of us have bolts missing or probably whole sections gone in our brains and are very compatent jockeys behind the wheel. good luck- whatever you decide- both are good cars.

Tommi mak compared to a P1 ............no wonder you have that opinion.
Try a p1, you will soon change your mind.

i have had both... now driving the P1.

The evo is very easy to tune... and great on a rae track.. but not on english B roads the standard suspension is too hard. AYC is for beginners... and its pointless.
and its abit dated

the P1 is a more refined car. excellent suspension set up. and its limited. i see more evos then a P1 and its for the Flat 4 sound track.

there are loads of trashed P1s out there, you really have to look hard, i have been looking at P1 since 2005 but no luck till now.

they DONT go bang if you treat them with respect. i have just changed my oil pump to a RCM oil pump. as the oil pump is one of the reason that made the car go bang.

its am running high power and its def. quick enough for A/B roads.

go for the P1 cheaper to run and very rare

well... its really up to you if they fail its a £3k rebuild. a modded oil pump will give you better oil pressure and the oil will flow alot better.

my car pulls much smoother after the RCM oil pump
