Default MY95 Impreza WRX sti GC8 EJ20

Good Morning

I am after some more excellent advice.

I have brought an imported Impreza

MY95
GC8 EJ20

WRX STI

I have loads I want to do to the car, but im slowly getting around all the sensible bits before I de cat, and fit a loud exhaust system, etc

The next thing I wish to do is to fit a new speedometer into the car.

The speedometer I have is in Km/h which I want to show in MPH.

I was just going to buy the de limiter kit off ebay which comes with a MPH face

But, as it happens the mileage counter doesn’t work on the speedometer, and at around 40 Km/h the speed needle jumps around.

These clocks rev up to 9000 rpm.

I have been watching ebay like a hawk and phoned the breakers around me but no joy yet…..

Any help would be appreciated.

What I really wanted to do was fit a speedometer from a later model but have been told that it would be more of a headache than its worth.

All the best

Anthony

White dial kit from Lockwood? Keeps original speedo, just changes KPH clock face to a MPH one, which has been scaled differently

Will keep the jap limit of 112mph though

Early speedos are getting very difficult to get hold of, I had to wait months to find good one. I could do what MSP said and just replace the face but then you will be in the odd situation where speed is in MPH but distance will still be in KMs. If you get a mechanical converter (as yours will be cable driven) everything will read in Miles and the 112mph limit should go too. All you need do to the face then is cross out the 'k' from KMH on the face... To change to the newer type clock you'd need to change from cable driven to an electronic feed type. Is tricky to do but it is possible. I'm sure that NAS STI was gonna try it, you could try asking him..

Will definitely get in touch with NAS STI….. if its possible then im very interested.

I did speak to someone once before and they had looked into it but not bothered as the time it was going to take was too long, he couldn’t keep the car off the road.

Well I guess I shall have to keep my eyes open.

Cheers for the replys though.

ahh ok

might give it a miss then.

i may have actually found someone on ebay with a set of clocks so hopefully might have it sorted soon.

A friend of mine with the same car as me has modified his clocks by putting a split mix of blue and red LED's in in stead of having the dull green as standard.

Looks very nice.

next project.

cheers for the replys.
