Default PPP to Ecutek

I'm looking to buy an 03 plate STI which has the PPP fitted.

On the trip home i was wondering if it would be worth stopping past andy forrest and getting it remapped to give a bit more poke (330bhp).

Am i correct in saying the 305bhp ppp pack does not give those figures and is more like 285-290.

Obviously with the ppp fitted is there anything else that needs to be fitted in addition to the ecutek to give 330bhp.

What sort cost does andy charge.... i have contacted him via his web site a few days ago but not heard anything.

Cheers

My otherwise standard, PPP'd MY02 STI is putting out 296.7bhp/297lbft with good, healthy looking curves running on V-Power.

I've asked this question before and Mike Wood said that the original PPP map is pretty conservative due to needing to conform to Subarus requirments for warrenty purposes, and there was room for some reasonable gains.

Wouldn't like to say what figures you'll eventually get, but I'm hoping to firmly get over the 300 figure when I have mine done later in the year.

a Map which has been tailored to your car will make it perform far better than a generic map made for the masses, it has got to be worth getting Andy F to work his magic on it

My STi PPP gave just over 300 on Power Engineering rollers but torque was a little down. A re-map by TSL (retaining the Prodrive exhaust) gave 341 on the same rollers. I noticed afterwards that my PSi unit registered a peak of just over 1.3 bar boost. On the road I can see just over 1.4 bar so the potential power is possibly a tad higher? I also get less Knocklink activity than with the PPP!

More like 300hp for a ppp.

TSL333 (333hp) compared to ppp (300hp) is about .6 seconds quicker 0-100mph. It's your money... I would save it for a bigger gain (400hp?).

dipster - with all respect, its about more than 0-100 times and peak figures though. Improved, fatter, more sustained power and torque curves will show massively in normal driving, even if you have very small differences in your peak figures. Plus, I'm under the belief that once you've paid for an Ecutek remap you've paid your licence fee so any future remaps are considerably cheaper.

I think what Dipster was getting at is that there isnt much in it, for the gains you will get between the Ecutek and the PPP, unless you start uprating parts like the headers to give you better torque and your fuel pump etc your gains are not going to be great.
If you went for bigger power (uprated turbo etc) though it will cost you more, you will feel the benefits more, the UK STi engine is a little restrictive when you come to tuning it, unlike the JDM car which is considerably better to tune for less money , where as you need to uprate lots of parts on the UK car (as stated, headers, fuel pump etc) to attempt to reach what you get on a JDM model (which needs virtually nothing in comparison).

Hmm, maybe i will save it then.

what sort of bits and peices will i need to get in order to achieve 400ish.

Front mount?
Fuel pump?
Injectors?
Turbo?
Clutch?
Brakes? surely the brembos are good enough?

What turbo is on a UK sti 03 blob eye? whats it good for bhp wise?

Headers (ported is probably your best shot)
Injectors
Turbo
Panel filter
Fuel pump
Clutch should be ok
Brakes.... possably a change of pad but normally quite good.
Exhaust system (3 inch)
Remap

i know tony and others bang on about JDM cars but with just a remap you'll have about 330 bhp with over 300 lb torque. that's one quick ******* car and with your PPP on there already you don't need to change anything.

at the most pop a green filter in and change the resonated pipe for a stainless straight thru (only to complete the exhaust to full stainless, but it won't make any difference to power)

do that first, scare yourself silly then worry about headers and up-pipes

Im seriously thinking about this TSL 333 route.

My car is still under subaru warranty..would the upgrade be that noticable?
Or is my warranty fecked?

Im also thinking of getting them to do a brake upgrade too.
Thinking about the ap 6pots but will need 18 inch wheels I guess.

What do you chaps think about the ap strap flating upgrade using the original calipers??

BTW are TSL a reputable bunch??

Avcr next or at the same time to save on cost then possibly more bhp

My 04 sti PPP has just an H&S BB, an sti panel filter and a Bob Rawle remap.

Made 355bhp and 350lb ft on delta dash

The smoothness of the power delivery has transferred this car and IMHO is what the PPP kit was crying out for.

Its completely transformed it
